When lightning strikes the flagstick on the golf course
Keep this in mind next time you see a thunderstorm approaching the golf course.
This photo showing the effects of a lightning strike to a flagstick has been doing the rounds this week – and it’s a scary sight.
Originally posted to Reddit by Geoffreypjs, the photo was taken the morning after a thunderstorm tore through the Stonebridge Golf Club in Utah.
The photo shows the Lichtenberg figure in the green often seen on the ground after a lightning strike where the electric current dissipated through the ground. We saw a similar effect after a lightning strike hit a green at Narooma Golf Club early last year.
