What is the format for the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth?

The brand new tournament tees off at Lake Karrinyup in Perth this week with a unique format which could be a template for future golf tournaments.

With so many golf fans lamenting the lack of professional match play golf to watch, the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth has decided to include both stroke play and match play into the inaugural tournament this week.

The European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia co-sanctioned event will begin with three rounds of stroke play, with the usual cut after 36 holes. But unlike regular stroke play events the field will be trimmed to just 24 players for the final round. The top players will receive a bye for the first of six rounds of six-hole match play to determine the winner. A special knockout hole will be played in the event of any ties.

But if you want a more concise, visual explanation, here is a nice little video explaining it from the European Tour.
