Tiger Woods returns to major golf at The Open: video

Tiger Woods has played just one tournament since back surgery and claims to be ready to win at Royal Liverpool this week.

“If you remember in ’08 I had knee surgery right after the Masters. I teed it up to the U.S. Open and won a U.S. Open. I didn’t play more than nine holes and the Sunday before the U.S. Open I didn’t break 50 for nine holes and still was able to win it in a playoff, with an ACL and a broken leg.” Woods said at his press conference yesterday.

If anything is going for him, Hoylake is a place where Woods has won before. He won his third Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in 2006 – his first major tournament after the death of his father. Woods won by two strokes from Chris DiMarco. Ernie Els was a further three shots behind.
