Tiger Woods “progressing”; hits three in the wedges into water: video

The return of Tiger Woods to professional golf still looks a long way away.

Tiger Woods was out at Congressional golf club promoting the Quicken Loans National (one of his sponsors) Tournament to be held next month. He’s hoping to be ready to play in the event but by the looks of his golf swing, that looks unlikely.

Woods hit three shots to the 102-yard 10th hole and each finished in the water. The first is above, the second and third shots are below.

And the third shot…

Awkward.

When asked about his return Woods suggested he would tell everyone if he knew himself.

“I have been practicing at home, and I’m progressing nicely. I’m hoping to play,” Woods said. “That’s the overriding question I keep hearing: when are you coming back, when are you playing? I get it all the time. If I knew, I’d tell you, because it’d be fun to know.”

This is hard to watch, irrespective of where the golf balls finished. We know he is on the comeback trail from back surgery but the swing looks stiffled and protective. If Tiger Woods returns to professional golf, it won’t be for some time.
