The Stenson shank and the Rumford reload

The first day of the 2014 WGC Cadillac Championship has been delayed due to bad weather and many players will complete their opening rounds tomorrow morning, but it wasn’t without a few lowlights.

Australia’s Brett Rumford got off to a watery start to the tournament. Starting his round on the par-5 10th hole at Doral’s Blue Monster course, Rumford hit his first three tee shots into the water to card an 11 to be 6-over the card after his first hole.

World number three Henrik Stenson gave hope to hackers worldwide after he shanked his approach to the par-4 2nd hole this morning. Stenson had to declare the ball lost and played another from the fairway and carded a double-bogey.

Adam Scott has started well, just a stroke behind the leaders through 10 holes but Jason Day was forced to withdraw with a thumb injury which had been injured some time during the WGC Accenture Match Play a few weeks ago.
