The fall of Michael Campbell

Aussie Golfer came across an old golf magazine a few days ago and this was on the front cover.

I think we’ve learnt a few things from his new swing.

I realise it’s an easy laugh and the benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing. It’s sad though to be reminded of how far the once mighty Michael Campbell has fallen. A new game has started amongst friends to find out who had the better Thursday and Friday score, Michael Campbell or Adam Scott.

Michael Campbell has recently moved to Sydney. I hope that the move is good for his golf.

Does anyone think he can get back to where he once was?

  • It’s common for people to say that golf is like life. If that means anything, it means we shouldn’t write Michael Campbell off yet. His U.S. Open win was at Pinehurst, here in my home state of North Carolina, and that’s no easy course.

It seems to me that Cambo’s always been a sporadic player, with long dry spells between a few months of brilliant play. If his history is any indication, he’s about due for another spurt.

I hope so. He seems to be a really good guy.

  • By all accounts he’s a dead set legend.

I really do hope he pulls through.

  • In 2006 I was at the US Open at Winged Foot when a fan looked at Michael Campbell and said,’Hey that’s Vijay Singh.’ Campbell could only wish that he had half the career of Vijay. It’s disappointing to see a good guy like Campbell struggle.

  • He’ll be back, makes me really sad to see this happen to one of the most inspirational people NZ has ever produced..

Get up Mike, it’s all good – you can win again!
