Year in review: The 11 worst moments in golf from 2015
We have to warn you, some of the big moments from golf in 2015 ain’t pretty.
As we look back at some of the biggest moments in golf, lets take a look at some of the low points of 2015.
The year began with that Robert Allenby story and some other low points including a club toss from Rory McIlroy, a bit of a barney between Keegan Bradley and Miguel Jimenez, and bad lie for Marc Leishman. And we’ll give you some warning before we show you one of the world’s worst putts from Ernie Els.

So there were so many low points in that Robert Allenby kidnapping story. Allenby chatted to Sunrise about the incident very soon after the story broke, but the most awkward moment for us was the reunion piece when Allenby met the woman that saved his life.

It was a bad year for arguably the greatest golfer in the history of the game. The sight of Woods struggling with his chipping and racking up record-high scores was tough to watch.

Rory McIlroy tosses 3-iron into water; scuba diver finds it, Trump returns it: video
Rory McIlroy was another former world number one who didn’t have the most memorable year either. Before McIlroy injured his ankle that forced him out of The Open Championship, McIlroy was a little frustrated on the golf course and sent his 3-iron for a swim.

Marc Leishman withdraws 2015 Masters and dealt a tough lie at The Open
Just days before the 2015 Masters Tournament, Marc Leishman was forced to withdraw after his wife fell ill. A traumatic time followed with Audrey Leishman thankfully making an incredible recovery after both had said their goodbyes to one another.

Leishman has said he has a whole new outlook on the golf course after the near tragedy and it may go some way to explaining how well he dealt with the horrible lie he was handed on the first playoff hole of The Open Championship. Zach Johnson won the Claret Jug but to Leishman’s credit he has never attributed the bad lie on ruining his chances of victory.
Jason Day collapses with dizziness at US Open
We are all familiar with Jason Day’s major victory at the US PGA Championship but if you recall he had to battle through some serious vertigo before rising to the top. Arguably, the illness cost Day an earlier major victory when he collapsed at the US Open at Chambers Bay earlier in the year.

Solheim Cup soured by conceded putt controversy: video
In our opinion, this was the lowest point in golf in 2015. Things got ugly following the European Solheim Cup team insisting they did not concede a putt that was picked up by the Americans. Controversy and tears abounded.

This was bizarre and highlighted how ridiculously complex the rules of golf can be. Phil Mickelson played two different types of golf ball during a match at the 2015 Presidents Cup and finished losing the hole. Not once, but twice.
Warning: That horrific yippy putt from Ernie Els
It wasn’t great that Ernie Els withdrew from the Australian Masters at Huntingdale just a few weeks before the first group teed off, but we may have been spared seeing some bad putting from The Big Easy. Els hit this putt this year and is enough to induce nightmares. If you’re prone to the odd yip, look away now.
