Sergio Garcia plays a one-handed shot up a tree

Tired Garcia goes barking mad and then withdraws from the golf tournament.

The final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational was suspended this morning as the threat of a hurricane approaches. Tiger Woods is currently leading the event by three shots and will re-assume his position as the world’s number one ranked golfer if he claims victory whenever play resumes.

Even with limited golf played today. this remarkable shot from Sergio Garcia made the highlight reel.

Garcia found his ball high up in an oak tree at the 10th hole at Bay Hill. Rather than take a penalty drop, he played the shot from the tree. Backwards. With one hand.

It was a great shot with an even greater dismount from the tree that will surely bring good marks from the judges. But Garcia’s round won’t be marked too highly. He ended up recording a double-bogey at the 10th and officially withdrew from the tournament as play was suspended.

Garcia had indicated he was tired before the tournament began despite recording four top-25 finishes from four starts on the US PGA Tour in 2013.

“I am kind of running almost on empty and given the way I am feeling to be able to make this week was an achievement for me,” Garcia said last week.

“So I’m looking forward to going home and relaxing for a fortnight before the Masters.”

“I would love my game to be better than where it is but just banging balls and just hitting my head against the trees is not going to help.”

<till, if you can play shots like that from the trees…
