Rory McIlroy smashes a tee shot in a spacesuit: video
If Rory McIlroy is smashing golf balls in a spacesuit, you know it’s gotta be some sort of product promotion.
Omega are one of the sponsors for golfers Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia. So naturally they were asked to pull on an astronauts spacesuit to hit a few golf balls in the lead up to this week’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
After going with the baseball grip to get around the large spacesuit gloves, McIlroy and Garcia looked to have no trouble hitting the ball as an astronaut would. Then Alan Shepherd didn’t have any real trouble hitting a golf ball either – and he was on the moon!
Given the lack of astronauts venturing into space anymore it’s interesting Omega are hanging on to this abstract link.
