Robert Allenby reportedly kidnapped, bashed and robbed in Hawaii

The Golf Channel are reporting that Robert Allenby was kidnapped, beaten and robbed on Friday night after missing the cut at the Sony Hawaiian Open.

Allenby told AAP news agency that he may have been drugged at the bar he was at with his friend.

“I didn’t think I was going to survive this one,” Allenby said.

“I was separated from my friend in the bar after we had paid the tab at 10:48pm and he went to the bathroom and next thing you know I’m being dumped in a park miles away.”

“I only know this part because a homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of the car.”

Allenby woke up in a park without his wallet and phone, and was helped into a taxi by a retired military man.

Photos of Allenby show his face beaten and grazed, and he sounds lucky to have survived the incident.

“I don’t care about the money or my cards or anything like that. I am just glad I have survived this one.”

Allenby is nursing his wounds and still hopes to play in next week’s PGA Tour tournament, the Human Challenge.

Update: Wei Under Par chatted to Allenby’s caddie Mick Middlemo who was at the bar with him before the incident allegedly occurred.

Middlemo said they returned to Amuse Wine Bar on Saturday afternoon to review the CC TV video and take a look at what actually unfolded.

“There were 3 people that he left with,” he said. “I didn’t even see these people. All of a sudden he was there and then all of a sudden they left, it was bizarre.

“I saw the video and (Robert) was stumbling all over the place. Ten minutes before he was fine.”

After reviewing the footage, they called the police and went to the station to file a report. Police have categorized the incident as robbery in the second degree. Allenby is also assisting the PGA Tour FBI officials that are looking into the case.
