McIlroy’s Open winning golf ball is up for auction

You can buy Rory McIlroy’s Open Championship winning golf ball after an online auction site got a hold of it from a fan.

In the moments following Rory McIlroy’s victory at the 2014 Open Championship last week, the Northern Irishman threw his golf ball into the crowd.

Green Jacket Auctions immediately offered $10,000 for the ball via their Twitter feed:

The ball was caught by Lee Horner of Leeds, England who promptly took the cash and Green Jacket Auctions now has Rory McIlroy’s Nike ball up for sale on their website. Currently the winning bid is a little over $4,000.

Nike has confirmed the authenticity of the golf ball so if you are looking for that special piece of golfing memorabilia to put in the pool room, this would be a pretty sweet addition.
