Landslide causes havoc at wet Scottish Open

The Scottish Open was switched to a links styled golf course this year to provide better preparation for golfers ahead of next week’s British Open. But a serious amount of rain has caused chaos and left many players without much preparation at all.

After some huge thunderstorms swept through Castle Stuart on Friday, a landslide swept across the first and 12th fairways halting any play and sending ground staff into a frenzy. Much of the course is also under water with huge pools littering the golf course.
The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes but further thunderstorms are forecast.
It is worth checking out the aerial flyover of the Castle Stuart Golf Links golf course at their website. It is a majestic looking golf course and you can see the ridge the course was built around, which has caused problems this week.

The landslide covered the 1st fairway.
