Jason Day confirmed for 2013 Australian Open

Day joins McIlroy and Scott in Australian Open at Royal Sydney.

Jason Day has confirmed that he will play the 2013 Australian Open at Royal Sydney Golf Club (28 November – 1 December). He joins Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott in what is shaping up as a stellar field.

“I’m looking forward to coming back to Sydney for the Emirates Australian Open in November,” Day said.

“The Open has always had a special place in the hearts of Australian players and I’ll be ready to do battle with all the other guys at Royal Sydney and hopefully win my first Stonehaven Cup.”

Since turning professional Day has only returned to play in Australia once in 2011 when he played the Australian Open at The Lakes followed by the Presidents Cup.

At the 2011 Australian Open, Day finished in a tie for fourth place alongside Adam Scott and behind Tiger Woods and eventual champion Greg Chalmers.

Day has a good year with three top-10 finishes at the majors but will be hungry for success before the year is out.

He now looks certain to partner fellow countryman Adam Scott at the World Cup of Golf to be held at Royal Melbourne the week prior to the Australian Open in Sydney. Stay tuned.
