EF King Island Classic raises over $13,000 for Make-a-Wish Foundation

Over 2 incredible days the inaugural EF King Island Classic was held at two of the world’s best courses – Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes.

Media release via Air Adventure Golf Tours:

In just 35 minutes Air Adventure had 56 guests landing in private charter planes directly on King Island to play these epic courses over a weekend during peak golf season and in tournament conditions. King Island is fast becoming the hottest new golf destination in Australia with both courses having magnificent coastline and ocean views plus expertly designed courses to challenge players at every level.

Air Adventure partnered with Essendon Fields for the event and organised flights, golf, accommodation and transfers so guests only needed to turn up and enjoy the magnificent golfing experiences. And that they certainly did!

During the weekend lots of awesome prizes were up for grabs including 4 cars courtesy of Andrew & Wallis Motor Group for anyone who could hit a hole in one. Unfortunately none of them went off, but one player came very close on the 8th at Ocean Dunes falling just 90cm short! A range of other great prizes from sponsors Callaway, Bushnell, On Course Golf and Hyatt Place were won over the weekend.

But most importantly, during the weekend $13,024 was raised for Make-a-Wish foundation – a charity which relies solely on donations and public support to make wishes of seriously ill children come true. The funds raised will go directly to granting the wishes of two children to give them hope for the future and the strength to face the challenges of their illness.

“Being able to support such a worthy cause whilst giving players the opportunity to experience these excellent world-class courses and for exceptional prizes has made this a very memorable tournament. Feedback has been resoundingly excellent and we are very happy to have been able to organize this event which is the first of its kind on King Island” said John Dyer, Air Adventure Managing Director.

“Air Adventure has now flown thousands of happy golfers to play these must-play courses on both King Island and Barnbougle over the last 2 years and we proud that we are now the most experienced travel operator with the highest performing private aircraft in the golf industry” added John.
