Australia’s Minjee Lee just four strokes back at halfway mark of Women’s Olympic Golf

South Korea’s Inbee Park leads the Olympic Golf after two rounds but Australia’s Minjee Lee is poised nicely ahead of the weekend.

Australia’s Minjee Lee is right in contention at the Women’s Olympic Golf in Rio after shooting a solid 4-under par 67. American Stacy Lewis posted a course-record 63 to roar towards the top of the leaderboard but the halfway mark leader is South Korea’s Inbee Park who has carded two 5-under par rounds to be one shot clear.

Playing in the early half of the field, Lee had made the turn at 4-under par and took a share of the lead. A birdie at the 10th had Lee in the outright lead but from there the 20-year-old West Australian struggled as the winds picked up and her group was put on the clock for slow play.

“I think I was 4‑under through nine, and then I birdied 10. The wind kind of got up and we were on the clock I think most of the back nine,” Lee said. “I think my rhythm was a little out. I made really good up‑and‑downs. So I’m happy with that, and I’m happy with my result today.”

Su Oh, Australia’s other representative in the field is at 1-over par in a tie for 38th place.
