2008-2009 Australian summer of golf calendar
It’s not easy to find the dates for the big golf tournaments in Australia each summer.
Run by different golfing bodies, sponsored by different companies and held in different parts of the country it feels like they are all fighting against each other.Let it be known there are plenty of tournaments being held about the country this summer but these are the big ones everyone should be keeping an eye out for. Aussie Golfer will review each tournament over the coming months.
So here they are. Together for the first time.
Men
Nov 27 – 30, 2008 Australian Masters, Huntingdale GC, Melbourne, Vic.
Dec 4-7, 2008 Australian PGA Championship, Hyatt Regency Coolum, Qld.
Dec 11 – 14, 2008 Australian Open Royal Sydney, NSW.
Feb 19 – 22, 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic, Vines Resort Country Club, Perth, WA.
Women
Feb 5-8, 2009 Australian Masters, Royal Pines, Gold Coast, Qld.
Feb 12 -15, 2009 Australian Open, Metropolitan GC
I just wonder if they are interested in some input from the organising committee of Spackler Social Golf?
The reason, well this year we’ll have four tournaments plus a weekend away, next year we’ve got five and a trip away, so as it stands apart from the professional status and the prize money, the Spackler Invitational is a bigger tour then the Australian PGA can come up with!!!!
What a joke the Australian tour is ! No wonder every kid with talent goes to the US , who would stay for this !!! Limited fields no events, they would be better off running 12 $100k events or building up Von Nida Tour. Who wants to see some european player no one has ever heard of !
