Adam Scott to join Jordan Spieth at 2015 Australian Open

Adam Scott commits again to Emirates Australian Open.

Just a day after the announcement that Jordan Spieth will be back to play in the Australian Open comes the great news that Adam Scott will return home to also play in the tournament to be held at The Australian Golf Club, November 26 – 29.

From the Emirates Australian Open official media release:

The Queenslander won the Australian Open at New South Wales Golf Club in 2009, eclipsing the field by five shots at the tournament’s only visit to that venue. He has been a regular contender in the country’s most famous tournament, finishing fifth at The Australian last year, runner-up to Rory McIlroy in 2013, 14th at The Lakes in 2012 and fourth in 2011.

“The Australian Open is a tournament that I value highly, Sydney is a great city and The Australian Golf Club is an excellent venue for Championship golf. I am really looking forward to competing to win my National Open once again.’’ said Adam.

Two great names in golf have now joined the field and it’s a superb base to now attract players to Australia’s most prestigious golf tournament.

And let’s not forget that the last two winners of the Australian Open, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, have gone on to very big things the following year. Other big names may join Scott and Spieth to fine tune their game ahead of a big 2016.

Scott’s appearance at The Australian Open will be warmly received by golf fans but with the impending ban on the anchoring technique coming January 1, 2016, it will be interesting to see what putting style the former world bring to Sydney.

While always keen to win on home soil, it’s highly likely that Scott will want to experiment a little before getting back to the US PGA Tour in 2016. Expect to see the short putter on the greens of The Australian in November.

Emirates Australian Open tickets are on sale now.
