    • What a Sunday it would have been sitting on the couch watching Adam Scott and Ian Poulter duel it out.
But as usual the so called promoters of golf in Australia have sold them selves out to Fox.
What a joke. So i just had to send an email to the PGA head office to tell them how wonderfully stupid and short sighted they are. I hope others will do the same.

    • Channel None going broke and we can look forward to Gilligans Island, Kitchen Whiz and Dogstar.

No wonder we just use online and downloads to avoid the crap they put out.

Discraceful, when have the golf is what we’re all talking about with Scotty just one shot off the lead.

    • Absolutely disgusting that the Aust PGA can prevent us from seeing a free TV coverage of the Australian Masters. What a short sighted selfish attitude from an organisation supposedly there for the betterment of the game we love. We are being blackmailed by pay TV and their selfish greedy policies of giving only a taste of channels. We can’t have one channel for even a short time unless we take the sports package for a minimum of 1 month. It’s time something was done to the monopolies to force them to give us what we’re entitled to in a so called free market place.

  • I am a big golf fan and love nothing more than sitting down on a sunday arvo to watch an australian golf tournament. How are we supposed to maximize the opportunity to raise the profile of the sport in our country when it is not shown on free to air tv?. As a result, i only found out the tournament was on through a friend this morning. All the effort to get world class golfers to Aust, and not getting the full exposure the sport so desperatley craves here. Not sure who makes these decisions, but its a big stinker as far as im concerned.

  • No wonder Aust golf is struggling! Have not heard any advertising about this event, only knew it is on by sports report on 3AW. And then, no free to air tv coverage. Disgusted with people who are supposedly running Aust golf.

  • You have to remember Australian golf organisers, or IMG who own and manage the Australian Masters would do everything they could to have free-to-air coverage. It is the networks themselves who make the call, and it is they who have decided not to bid for the broadcasting rights to the golf – mainly because it doesn’t rate very well.

See my take on it from earlier in the year here: “On the demise of golf on Australian free-to-air TV” http://www.aussiegolfer.net/2012/07/on-demise-of-golf-on-australian-free-to.html

Channel Ten will broadcast the Australian PGA Championship from Coolum and Channel 7 will step back into Australian golf coverage for the Australian Open.

  • I dont have Foxtel and was just on the PGA Scores webpage and noticed they are doing a live blog of the final round of the Australian Masters on Sunday. Might be worth a look since its not on free to air.

  • I agree with all of the above comments regarding no free to air coverage. I live in a small country town in Northern NSW and not even the local tavern has fox sports. It is the same with the weekend NRL coverage, no Saturday or Monday night. Remember Paul Keating saying ALL major sporting events will be on free to air TV. What a wank. The PGA or who ever runs Australian golf needs to get their act to-gether.

  • With so many free to air channels I find it quite frustrating that no channel can supply coverage and yet are quite happy to show rubbish re-runs which no one watches? Then they wonder why kids these days a getting fatter, well broadcast more sports, interest levels increase and so does participation. As for channel one which had been earmarked as a sports channel is now filled with rubbish.

  • I have watched the Australian Masters on free to air TV for 40 years and I am discusted with the Commercial channels for showing re-run rubbish ahead of a great golfing spectacle with Scott and Poulter going head to head in the final two rounds. For Golf Australia to allow this to happen is totally disrespectful to the fans of Golf. Simply a disgrace!!

  • Seriously the one to blame us Stephen Conroy , no escaping it, he has broken the hearts of all golf fans. Public servants are there to do just that , serve the publics needs! No FTA is laughable , but no compromise on simultaneous Internet streaming is in forgivable

  • Join this Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/wewantaussiegolffreeontv?ref=hl to show whoever needs to be shown how watching an event like the Australian Masters is important to us! It’s a crying shame most gofers after hearing news that the great Adam Scott had come from behind to lead on the back nine over Englishman Ian Poulter would have ran to the fridge, grabbed a stubby, hurtled back to the tele found the remote under lounge after a 5 minute search, and then flicked frantically through every one of these new beaut “digital channels” only to be completely disappointed with finding nor player nor Tounament to watch! It’s the Australian way! What on earth would happen if Bathurst or the ashes test were not televised on free to air! “Stone the flaming crows” it’d be all out war! And that’s just how I feel about my golf! I remember how watching players like Greg Norman close out to win a tournament on Sunday made me feel. Inspired. I want my kids to be able to do the same! I refuse to be held at ransom I won’t pay to watch my golf.
